The inspiration for this box came from a bag of Soviet-era medals that was given to me back when I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine from 2011-13. A good friend of mine gave me these as a token of friendship when I was getting ready to come back to the states. I never knew what to do with them until one day I just started to create these mini-quilts and the rest is history. I have donated this box to the Museum of Communism in Romania.
