Collage Paintings

This work was inspired by my trip to the Shetland Islands in Scotland in the summer of 2019. I was so taken by the beauty of the island and the architecture I couldn't stop thinking about it and it resulted in this series of collage-paintings. Although not a painter, I do love to use paint in my work occasionally. For the little paintings I first used acrylics as you would in printmaking....squirting bits of paint onto a surface and then using my brayer and transferring the paint onto paper. Afterwards I would tear up the paper and apply it to the surface.  I loved the random aspect of working this way as it frees you up from any sort of "conventional" type of painting.
